一、过去进行时的用法

1.表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作。

·-What were you doing when we were playing basketballyesterday afternoon?昨天下午我们在打篮球的时候你在做什么？

－I was cleaning the classroom.

我在打扫教室。

2.表示在过去某一段时间内一直在进行的动作，但说话时动作未必正在进行。

·-Why didn't you go to the cinema with us this afternoon?

今天下午你为什么不和我们一起去看电影？

－I was waiting at the station for my uncle from Beijing.

我一直在车站等从北京来的叔叔。

·At that time we were living in the village.

那时我们正住在乡下。

3.过去进行时可以用来描绘一幅景象，作为描绘的开始。

·While I was working in the garden,the accident happened.当我正在花园干活时，事故发生了。

二、标志：

常与过去进行时连用的时间状语有：

this morning 今天早晨

at that time 那时

at 5 p.m.yesterday 昨天下午5:00

this time yesterday 昨天这个时候

·then 那时

三、过去进行时的结构

肯定句：主语＋was/were v-ing 其他

否定句：主语＋was/were not v-ing 其 它.

一般疑问句：Was/Were 主语＋v-ing 其

它

答语：Yes,主语＋was/were. 或No,主语＋wasn't/weren't.
